For Medium And High Rise Buildings There Are A Few Choices For Each Space HVAC.
Some opt for fan coils or water source heat pumps but that will require central mechanical systems. Some opt for individual split systems which require multiple power feeds and a lot of refrigeration piping. Similar thought on VRF systems.
Then you have PTAC units… the lowest common denominator. Single opening in the facade, single electrical. Cheap. But, limited in flexibility and somewhat noisy.
Allow the ability of the single opening, single utility of the PTAC but allow the flexibility of a ducted system with a through the wall Vertical Packaged Unit. A single package mounts to a exterior wall, hidden in a closet and gets ducted into the space.
