Project Description

Our high profile job for this year involves high end temperature sensitive food storage. While not requiring true refrigeration, the product needs to be consistently maintained at 55 F throughout the year.

The product of choice was a Johnson Air Rotation Unit. Warehouses have unique qualities that the Johnson unit matches perfectly: a unit that can deliver up to 180,000 cfm that is 36 feet tall and does not use ductwork. With a low return and high supply, the air will circulate vertically to maintain a constant temperature gradient at every elevation. This unit is utilizing gas for heating and is matched to a chiller for cooling.  Humidification, dehumidification, special filtration, washdown and economizers are also available options. There are different forms of heating and cooling types available (ie, DX Cooling, Electric, Oil, Steam, and HW Heat). Simple to complex controls are available to match the needs of the project.

Despite its size, the modular design made the installation for this job relatively easy.  The assembly took approximately 1 day for a few installers.  Essentially the modules stack on top of each other and the contractor would simply wire, pipe and go.  While the unit can be mounted outdoors, many times it is mounted indoors.  This makes it easy to maintain and makes for a very long life cycle (no curbs!). Because it is not ducted, the fan horsepower is significantly lower than multiple ducted units which saves energy. At the larger sizes there are 2 fans per unit for redundancy.

For any large open high ceiling area (warehouses, manufacturing, gymnasiums to name a few) consider the Air Rotation unit. We will work with you in the design and can be by your side all the way through startup if need be. Ask us about guaranteed performance!
